Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning continued their good run of form, as they combined to take the opener at Cork, the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden, with Strapped
Sixth of nine on debut at Dundalk last month, the Dawn Approach colt went off a 16/1 chance this evening in the colours of Jackie Bolger.
Towards the head off affairs throughout, he was ridden and held a definite advantage over a furlong from home, keeping on strongly in the closing stages to score by two and a half lengths. Amalfi Coast (9/4jf) got going late and ran on well to take second under Wayne Lordan for Aidan O'Brien, while Harmony Rose (9/4jf) was another half a length back in third.
Manning said in the aftermath: "He is a nice horse who ran in Dundalk first time out and was very, very green. He has progressed and came forward a lot from the run.
"He is a strong type, has plenty of pace and will get further in time. He is a nice individual."
