Steeltown wins for Geraghty/Taaffe
Tom Taaffe’s Steeltown ran out the five and a half lengths winner of the All Creatures Veterinary Novice Hurdle at Roscommon today, capitalising from the final flight blunder from eventual third placed Lizzie Bennett
Steeltown, a son of Craigsteel, led from three out but was under a little pressure when Lizzie Bennett threw down a challenge on the run to the final flight. Lizzie Bennett was almost upsides the winner when blundering badly at that final obstacle, with her rider Barry Cash performing wonders to stay in the saddle.
Afterwards Taaffe stated “Steeltown jumped and travelled well and liked the nice ground. The race was always going to be fast run while chasing will ultimately be his forte.”
