Snap takes opener at Ballinrobe
The opening race this evening at Ballinrobe the Tipperary Water Median Auction Maiden was won by the Joanna Morgan trained Snap Alam in the hands of Pat Smullen.
Smullen who was prominent most took up the lead close home to score by a convincing length and a half.
The daughter of Alamshar was lucky early when she slipped slightly on the bend, the 6/4 favourite Super Say was not so lucky when he slipped and lost his action badly on the bend entering the back straight.
The heavy rain showers that came before the first race made conditions very slippy.
Winning jockey Smullen said afterwards: “She deserved to win a race at this standard. We were very lucky to stand up when she slipped on one of the early bends.”
“It was to our benefit that the favourite slipped up more than we did.”
