He was a 20/1 chance when successful at Tipperary on Sunday, but two days after on much slower ground Kylecrue had his backers (7/1 into 9/2) and he prevailed in a similarly tight finish, in the featured McGrath Limestone Works Ltd. Handicap Hurdle at Ballinrobe.
The John Ryan owned and trained Kylecrue had to survive a steward's enquiry after Ryan Treacy's mount took the challenging Dalasiri with him, edging off the home turn.
It wasn't any great surprise when the outcome was quickly confirmed following the steward's deliberations and the front pair had a length and a half gap on the third home Lost Book
After his charge had bossed things from start to finish Ryan said: "He's as tough as nails and he started off by winning his point-to-point on his own.
"An injury is all that kept him back and after backing him at Tipperary I had a few quid on him this evening as well. I couldn't see Gordon Elliott's four-year-old, Mustadrik (11/10 favourite, 5th) beating him as this fella is a seasoned hardened horse.
"The Galway Blazers is the plan."
The Stewards enquired into possible interference from the turn into the straight involving Dalasiri, ridden by S.J. Crimin, placed second and Kylecrue, ridden by R.P. Treacy, placed first.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judges placings and took no further action.
