Adrian Maguire has been enjoying an astounding run of success in point-to-points with horses owned by his English client, Chalkmead Ltd, and he registered another winner for a cross-channel patron when Qhilimar (16s this morning into 8s) landed the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Chase at Tramore.
This fellow, with Rob Jones up top, in the Whites Of Coventry Limited colours, was always on the pace.
Qhilimar stayed on well from before the last to beat off High Desert and Betterthanalright (7s into 5s on track) by a length and three parts and a length and a half.
Maguire said: "The owners hired a small plane to come over here but I tried to persuade them not to! They had a few quid on him too.
"I'm thrilled now – Rob gave him a super ride.
"He has been disappointing and I hope the handicapper isn't too hard on him now."
Jim White, the winning owner remarked: "We brought him over for the Munster National (was with Charlie Longsdon) and then left him here.
"John White (winner of the National that never was and now a Wexford-based handler) is my brother and Adrian is a friend of his so I gave the horse to him." (DM & EM)
