Punters perish on the Rock
Pirans Rock (25/1) provided a shock in the opener on day three of the Festival when making a successful debut under Willie Supple in the O'Callaghan Family Hotels EBF Maiden.
The Paul Deegan-trained juvenile, a daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar, was never too far off the pace and got the better of the easy-to-back Big Occasion in the closing stages by a neck. Dalkan was switched right to challenge inside the final furlong before coming home best of all just a short-head further away in third.
'I thought she might be a bit green but she went to the start well, so I was happy she would run a good race. She should improve quite a bit from that run,' said Supple afterwards.
