Colin Keane masterfully delivered Zen Silence from off the pace here on Friday evening and the champion jockey was at it again at Dundalk this afternoon aboard Comin’ Through in the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Claiming Race.
The victorious Australian-bred, a Group One winner ‘down under’ in 2018, won a claimer here too, for Johnny Levins, back in November.
Down the outer in the straight on this occasion, 3/1 second market choice Comin’ Through came with his effort, eventually getting there close home to beat favourite Raphael by three parts of a length.
There was a length and three parts then to Kendred Soul (80/1) in third.
“They seemed to go a good gallop for the grade of race so that worked in our favour,” said winning trainer Jack Davison.
“Colin felt they were going plenty quick so he was happy enough to bide his time for the first half of the race, trust that they'd come back to him and his horse would pick up. Thankfully that's what he did.
“He's a grand horse. He's a nice one to have, insofar as you know he's going to show up most days he runs and in this kind of grade he falls in for a win every now and then.
“Hopefully we can hold on to him and he can pick up a couple on the turf.”
Raphael was claimed by Conor O'Dwyer in the aftermath.
Sam Ewing, rider of Crystal Dawn trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly.
The Stewards interviewed P.A. Harnett, rider of Tony The Gent concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered evidence from the rider, who stated that he had moved across early and had heard some shouting on his inside which made him straighten up briefly before moving across again, the Stewards were of the opinion that P. A. Harnett was in breach of Rule 211(a) by failing to ride in a straight line from his draw position until reaching the marker poles. Having considered P. A. Harnett's record in this regard the Stewards suspended P. A. Harnett for one raceday.
