O'Connell completes Downpatrick double
Claiming jockey Eddie O’Connell completed a double at Downpatrick today, completing the feat on the Sean Thornton trained Street Runner in the Keeping It Country Handicap Hurdle.
O’Connell, who has already moved to an impressive score of 18 wins for the season, eventually kept the son of Rainbow Quest up to his work to hold the challenge of D’s Trix.
Afterwards Thornton said “most of the credit for the win goes to my son Karl who does most of the work. We were expecting the horse to go well as he had run well at Limerick and this has been coming. It’s my first winner here and it’s nice to get it!”
