Myth springs shock in Freshways
Island Myth belied his 50/1 starting price to run out a convincing winner of the Freshways Handicap Hurdle.
Ian McCarthy sent his mount up to take over from long-time leader Trimbellina entering the straight and he ran on well to score by five lengths for trainer Noel Glynn.
"The horse had a leg injury a couple of years ago and we've been nursing him back to health," revealed Glynn.
"The lightweight helped him a lot today. It was Ian McCarthy's first ride for me and he gave the horse a great ride.
"He's local to me and I'll be giving him a lot more rides in future. This horse doesn't do too much at home - a bit like the trainer!"
