My Murphy continues winning streak
Jump Jockeys’ Championship leader Davy Russell moved onto the 51 winner mark for the season at Wexford today when steering the Liam Burke trained My Murphy to win the Vinegar Hill Maiden Hurdle.
The winner did have to overcome a Stewards’ Enquiry though as he came across and bumped into runner-up Rourke’s Cross on the run-in.
Afterwards Burke reported “My Murphy is a decent horse and definitely one for the future. He was unlucky the first day he ran in a point to point when he fell at the last and was remounted for third. He did win on his next start though.
“We’ll go down the novice route now and will go chasing next season. His owner Hans Zindel is from Switzerland but is living in Lismore and is a great owner to have in these economic times. He also has a two year old filly with Mick Halford.”
