The 13/8 favourite Monaasib forged clear from over a furlong out to win the Irish EBF Median Sires Series 2-y-o Maiden for Kevin Prendergast and Chris Hayes.
The Bobby’s Kitten colt, second over the same course and distance just over a week previously, won in good style and looked one who would definitely appreciate a little bit further in time as well, as he extended his advantage in the final furlong to beat Magnanimous by two and a half lengths.
Clearly the first-time tongue tie did him no harm either.
After his second winner of the day, Chris Hayes said: “It wouldn’t be like the boss to run him back quick but he came out of the run well.
"We always held him in high regard and if Covid hadn’t hit we would have got him out early.
“The boss gave him time and he seemed to grow and develop.
"I think he’s a horse that is going to progress as the season goes on.”
