Mighty winner for Kelly & Fox
Mighty Whitey (a half-brother to Clara Allen and from the family of Lord Noellie and Addington Boy) caused a 25/1 shock to ensure the Jackpot pool of E9996.00 would go to Tipperary tomorrow. The Sesaro gelding made virtually all much to delight of trainer Noel Kelly (his first winner) and rider Derek Fox (his initial success also) in the Cleveragh Flat Race.
Newcomer Mighty Whitey, carrying a tongue-strap, battled off Craig Lea by a neck.
Kelly, who trains 5 horses at Draperstown Co. Derry said of his mother, Christina's four-year-old: "We weren't meant to go to the front but he can tank. I put in a new gallop last year and this is my first runner since."
Fox is from Sligo, he rode his first point-to-point winner lately and he works for John Carr.
Big morning gamble, Aupcharlie was withdrawn by order of the stewards due to a passport irregularity.
