Veteran jockey Niall McCullagh was in self-deprecating mood following his win in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) Handicap at Sligo today, scoring on the Tracey Collins-trained Noirvento
Today's races are flag-started due to mechanical issues with the starting stalls with McCullagh able to bounce Noirvento out smartly, before eventually scoring by a length from Herb Of Grace
Fifty two year old McCullagh later reported “it is worrying when there are no stalls. It's a free-for-all but the bit of experience came into it - although I tried to do it in the previous race but made an absolute horlicks of it!
“She enjoyed the cut in the ground, she's all heart and I think she’s good for another one.”
Winning trainer Collins added “she’s such a consistent filly and has the most amazing owners, the Altar Ego Syndicate, they’re a fantastic bunch of people and have been great patrons of mine.
“She just doesn’t know when she has enough. She’s a very honest filly, she’s limited but she gives her heart and soul every time.
“She was always going to finish strongly there and that’s five she’s won now.”
