Stamina won the day for Makethedifference as he got up close home to land the spoils in the concluding bumper at Navan. Keist took them along in the two-mile event but was headed entering the straight by One Goal with Kandinski soon tackling that rival.
Makethedifference travelled well behind the pair and came through to challenge inside the final furlong as One Goal faded.
4/6 favourite Kandinski looked set to prevail until close home when Mikey Fogarty conjure a late surge from Makethedifference to record a length-and-a-quarter success.
The form of the Eddie Hales-trained winner had been advertised earlier as he had been third behind Nearly Nama'd who won claimed the second today, when the pair chased home Byerley Babe at Thurles in December.
“It was black and white the last time I had a winner!'” joked Hales afterwards.
“I took him over to Cheltenham (on his debut) for a Listed bumper and thought it was only a matter of going and picking up the money.
“I think he's a fair horse. If he's not sold he'll go for another bumper.”
