Lyons' first runner for Moyglare gets it in stewards' room

There was a stewards’ enquiry held after the opening 2-y-o maiden after long-time leader Ontario (11/10 fav) edged left inside the final furlong and carried the challenging Reve De Vol (7/2) across towards the stands’ side.
The pair bumped in the final strides and, with just a short head between them at the line, the decision was taken to reverse the placings.
Reve De Vol, under mostly hands and heels from Donagh O’Connor, had made a very pleasing debut in any event for Moyglare Stud Farm and Ger Lyons.
The Siyouni colt is out of Listed winner Joailliere who’s a half-sister to Group 3 scorer Carla Bianca, and holds an entry in the Group 1 National Stakes.
Winning trainer Ger Lyons said , “Where I was watching it I put my glasses down and thought he’d gone and won the race. I didn’t know that he was bumped across the track until I saw the head-on.
“It’s not the way you want to get it but I felt he would get it.
“It’s nice to win your two-year-old maiden. He’s a nice horse and will improve plenty as it was his first day on grass like all of ours. It’s also nice to have a first runner and a first winner for Moyglare.
“Donagh rides out for us once a week so it’s nice to give him a winner as well.”
