Heavenly Power justified strong support to record a fifth career victory in the Tote.ie Handicap at Naas this afternoon.
The Dark Angel gelding is owned and bred by Sabina Power and her extended family were out in force to greet the well supported 11/4 favourite who was available at 6/1 earlier in the day.
Billy Lee ’s mount kept on strongly inside the final furlong on the stand side rail to beat Moltophino by a length and three-quarters with Apache Outlaw a head further back in third.
Winning trainer Eddie Lynam said, “It’s nice to get the result today as all the Power family were coming here.
“The way the programme is after the Bold Lad this was the only race left for him and we ran for nine and a half grand. I’d always hoped he’d win a big one, but he comes up short in them. He’s good in this grade.
“He’ll go out in the paddock now and come back next year. The ease in the ground is a help to him.”
