Batcio bagged the Grade B featured BoyleSports Handicap Chase at Killarney today, providing jockey Brian Hayes with a first winner for winning trainer Ted Walsh.
Hayes, having his second ride for Walsg, moved the Luke McMahon-owned son of Montmartre to lead jumping the third last, went clear at the next as the pair went on to beat The West's Awake by three lengths.
Afterwards Walsh reported “he did it well and it was a nice pot to win. It was that kind of a race where everything worked out for him and it was half a mile further than the last day here (in July) and the ground was a little bit easier.
“He had a great run in a valuable handicap at Leopardstown one Christmas (2019) and I might stick him in the Kerry National now.
“The idea is to have him fresh though so there is the 2m5f Grand Sefton Chase at Aintree for him and there's where he will go — he's a great leaper.”
