Glen Kiln added to a maiden hurdle win at Naas earlier this year when justifying strong support in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Handicap Hurdle at Navan.

Michael Bowe ’s five-year-old was available at 12/1 this morning but was sent off at just 9/2 and made a lot of the running after 7/2 favourite Away To Milan unseated rider when leading at the second.

Brian Hayes’ mount kept on strongly on the run-in to beat Theflyingbee who was making no impression when meeting the last wrong, by six lengths. Boston Rover was also far from fluent at the final flight finishing a further four and a quarter lengths back in third.

Assistant trainer John Bowe said, "He's a very nice horse, he's only five.

“He schooled last week over fences in Limerick junction and we were going to go for a beginners chase but the ground was nicer here, he wants soft ground.

“Two-and-a-half miles and the track, all the conditions were right for him. We love him, he's a horse for the future.

“He's from Sweet Kiln and Limestone Lad's family. We had great luck with them around this track years ago so it's great to be back here. We haven't had a winner in Navan for many years.

“We'll see what the handicapper does now. Fences is definitely his future and he jumped particularly well last week schooling.”
