The well-backed Gallowglass (12s this morning, 8/1 into 9/2 on the show) won the Follow Us On Instagram Rated Novice Hurdle in the hands of Kevin Brouder. Joeswayornoway (12/1) moved to the front at the third-last but the winner covered the move and came through to head that one before the last before galloping on strongly for a four length victory. 4/1 joint favourites Battle Of Benburb (fourth) and Ballyadam Destiny (eighth) were both well held.
Off the track for a couple of years after winning a bumper at Limerick in 2018, it was a first hurdles win at the eighth time of asking over flights for the gelding by Ask.
Winning trainer Stephen Ryan said: “He ran during Christmas but the deep ground was beating him so we put him away for nice ground.
"He is a smashing horse and the ground is important to him.
"His owner (William Fitzgerald) passed away a few weeks ago and nearly lifted him home today."
