Goodnight Girl (9/1) gained her first victory on Irish sole when landing the TRI Equestrian Handicap under 5lb claimer Mikey Sheehy.
The Clodovil mare, three times a winner in Britain, tracked prominent racer Lord Dudley (9/2 fav) in a small group of runners towards the stands' side and got the better of the market leader inside the final hundred yards to score by half a length. The first two were nicely clear of third home Dandyville who fared best of those who raced centre to far side.
Winning trainer Sarah Lynam said: “It’s been getting a bit frustrating as she’s been running good races and just wasn’t getting her head in front.
“Mikey was good on her there and I told him to just fill her with confidence and she seemed to enjoy it. He timed it well as she can idle when she gets there.
“She’s been running well here and it’s a first winner for my uncle John. He had me thinking he was cursed but obviously he’s not!
“She ran a cracker here on Derby weekend and was just caught on the line. That’s my first winner at the Curragh so it’s very satisfying.”
