Aptly-named Doyen Ta Win (2/1f) completed a hat-trick of recent wins today, scoring in her customary game front-running manner in Wexford's Micheal O'Murchadha Memorial Handicap Hurdle.
Competing from 4lb out of the handicap and thus running from a career high rating of 108, the five year old raced clear throughout, under regular rider Kevin Sexton, beating runner-up Bythesametoken by 10 lengths.
Winning trainer Declan Queally or his namesake son and assistant weren't present, and Sexton said “she is hard work, all you can do is sit there and try to fill her up. She is so quick over her hurdles and you can feel her having a look before them. She thinks about it before getting to them.
“She goes as hard as she can for as long as she can, but I was confident we'd get home. I was just making sure I had enough left to do it. She travelled better and felt better on this ground.”
He added “I had been giving out because she was supposed to run in the race prior to this one and had 11st9lb in that and only had 10st in this. That isn't easy for me to do but it was worth it!”
