Emmpat benefits from Kalellshan's exit in Kilbegnet Chase
The Grade 3 Kilbegnet EBF Novice Chase, the feature event on Roscommon's jumping calender, saw a desperately unlucky loser when Kalellshan fell at the final fence, with the €25,000 first prize at his mercy, leaving Emmpat the fortunate winner.
Kalellshan, under Mike Darcy for trainer Paul Flynn, had made all the running to that point and was six lengths clear of Emmpat when he met the final fence on a wrong stride and crumpled on landing.
Afterwards Emmpat's rider David Casey joked “I had Kalellshan covered when he fell!”
Casey added “the ground was fine for Emmpat but he felt a little flat today - perhaps the couple of quick runs at Listowel took its toll on him.”
