Trainer Donnacha O'Brien completed a Tipperary double today as his Emporio (2/1) overcame a 425 days absence to win the Meadowview Stables Race, under jockey Gavin Ryan.
Bred by the O'Brien family's Whisperview Trading Ltd, the son of Zoffany travelled well into contention and scored comfortably by three parts of a length from Alessandro Algardi
O'Brien, successful in the opening claimer with unsold Blindsided said “he (Emporio) has loads of ability and has had plenty of issues so was one we were happy to wait on. He has been off the track a long time, it is great to get him back and he took a good blow in the last furlong.
“He likes that ground but has soundness issues and that's the only negative about running on it. He was fifth in the Irish 2,000 Guineas on soft ground so he'll go on that as well.
“He is entered for the English Cambridgeshire so we'll look at that.”
