The rain-softened ground conditions has led to quite a number of non-runners on day three of the Galway Festival, notably Daffern Seal and Finger Onthe Pulse in the featured www.thetote.com Galway Plate.
Torphichen (not qualified due to a technical issue) was already flagged yesterday as an absentee, while the first reserve Ordinary Man will take his place in the line-up for the two and three quarter miles event.
Other significant non-runners this afternoon are Kalellshan, a winner here on Monday, in the 2m4f handicap hurdle (3.35), while Heaney and Dream Champion are out of the 3m handicap hurdle (4.10).
The three-year-olds’ mile handicap (6.00) has a greatly reduced field with Coin Of Courage, Suehail, Captain Joy and Kedleston all out due to the change in going.
Moonbi Creek and Xsquared are among those taken out of the mile handicap (6.35), while Curia Regis is another defector due to the ground in the mile maiden (7.10).
In total at present there are 24 non-runners on this afternoon’s Galway card.
