Clarcam got off the mark at the third time of asking when claiming the juvenile hurdle at Thurles this afternoon.
Davy Russell, completing a quick double for Gigginstown, chased Sin Miedo in the early stages of the two-miler before hitting the front before the fourth last.
He looked in control entering the straight but the Gordon Elliott-trained French-bred ran around going to the last and Russell had to get serious with him.
He stayed on well in the closing stages to post a two-and-three-quarter length winning margin over hurdling debutant Indian Icon (backed at 7/4 this morning, returned 5/4).
The winner, a 6/5 shot having been 4/5 this morning, had been runner-up on his previous two starts and chased home the smart looking Orgilgo Bay at Punchestown last time.
“He came up against two better horses on his last two runs,” said Elliott.
“He'll have a little break now and we'll look at some of the graded races for him – maybe at Fairyhouse.
“He's a fine big horse and will jump a fence in time.”
Russell added:- “His experience stood to him and he was entitled to win. He's a real national hunt type horse.”
