After the brilliance of Envoi Allen and Ferny Hollow at Cheltenham last week Cheveley Park Stud struck at Wexford today in the Micheal O'Murchadha Memorial Handicap Hurdle with Zambezi Fix
Luke Dempsey donned the famous red, white sash and blue cap here, and like Envoi Allen Zambezi Fix is trained by Gordon Elliott.
Only five contested the two miler and they were all still in with chances coming to the straight.
In the end it was favourite Chalky White that gave 8/1 victor Zambezi Fix most to do, but the grey ran out a good three length winner.
He was outsider of the quintet and stable representative Ian ‘Busty’ Amond said: “His last run was okay and he must have come on from it.
“Luke said he probably got there too soon on him today but he won well.
“He didn’t jump great early on so there is a bit of improvement in that department but he’s got the job done and we’ll try and get another one out of him.”
