Bullseye for Target
Third in a point-to-point when with the Nielans in Galway, and second in his two racecourse outings, Some Target finally hit the bullseye when staying on best to score in the Racing In Red For €5 11th April (Pro/Am) Flat Race under Patrick Mullins.
Owned by the Galway-based Captain Conflict Syndicate, the Witness Box gelding found enough up the straight to beat the fellow ex-pointers, Ballyburke and Bring Me Back by one and three parts of a length and a neck.
Gary Davies, representing Willie Mullins, said: "Third time lucky! He came from the point-to-points and he looked a stayer there."
Some Target’s conqueror from Leopardstown at Christmas, On His Own, was sold by Oliver McKiernan to Howard Johnson for 240,000 at Brightwells Sale at Cheltenham after racing yesterday.
