Bridgequarter Girl gets off the mark

Despite jinking over the second last, 7/4 favourite Bridgequarter Girl was a ready winner of the two mile maiden hurdle at Tramore.
Paul Townend moved her into contention on the outside at the second last and she strode away after the last to leave Empresario in second at 7/2. Another 7/2 shot, Templeton took third place.
The distances were two and a half lengths and nine lengths.
“She was due that. She’s been consistent. She was unlucky in Killarney [ ran out and unseated July 15] as she was travelling well there. She missed a flight and unseated,” handler John Kiely commented.
“I’m glad she got the win today as they don’t always get it. The pace suited her and she will probably go for a winners’ of one now.”
This was Bridgequarter Girl’s seventh run since the start of May. She was second to Pepparpot in Cork just under two weeks ago.
