Borolee catches the Babe on the line
Their gamble yesterday Cheltenian ran a big race to be second in the bumper and though Borolee wasn't exactly heralded as a 20/1 chance for the punchestown.com For Offers Handicap Chase his success was nonetheless welcomed by the Wexford yard of Liz Doyle.
It looked unlikely going to the last as Burnt Oil Babe held the call and a big jump by her there appeared to settle the issue. However Barry Cash's mount started to run on empty a bit in the closing stages and Brian O'Connell forced Borolee up to prevail by the minimum margin. The big gamble of this two and three quarter mile event was South Liberties (10/1 into 7/2) and he had every chance but he eventually had to settle for third.
Barry Murphy, partner of Liz Doyle, said: "The ground was against us until the rain came which helped. We've have no plans but he has been a good servant."
