Blueberry Boy wins for Stafford
Trainer Paul Stafford and jockey Conor Maxwell combined together to take the Bar One Racing Handicap Chase with 5/1 shot Blueberry Boy
Maxwell was in front for most aboard the Old Vic gelding, the pair were briefly headed 5 out but were soon back in front and kept on gamely for an eight length win over Pom Flyer
A delighted Stafford said afterwards: “He did it well, he runs best when he’s fresh and he loves it around here that’s his fifth winner here.”
“He doesn’t take a whole lot to get him ready he’s an exceptional horse in that respect. It only takes two gallops to him ready.”
“Conor thinks he’s better than a handicapper, he’s had a few setbacks but hopefully he’s back to his best. We will look for a graded race over the Christmas for him.”
“He just gets two miles but on that performance he might get further but I have my doubts we’ll just take it day by day with him.”
