Alan Magee
Birthday Benefit for Mangan
Jane Mangan celebrated her 18th birthday in the best possible fashion when partnering Luke's Benefit to make all in the Britain v Ireland Ladies Challenge Handicap Hurdle.
Miss Mangan, whose brother Pat teamed up with hot-favourite Jenari to take the opener at Limerick, was having her first ride over hurdles having previously won two bumpers and also three point-to-points this year on the family-owned veteran Conna Castle.
The Denis Hogan-trained grey, well-backed from 9/2 down to 7/2 favourite, made all the running in this two mile event and kept on really well from two out to beat Diamond Shower by seven and a half lengths. Bay Of Kotor (6/1) completed the placings a further three and a quarter lengths back in third.
