Berry completes quick double
Napa Starr from the Charles Byrnes stable added another win to his tally when taking the Fernleigh Handicap under a fine ride by Fran Berry making it a quick double for the rider.
Berry had his mount in contention inside the final furlong and the 4/1 shot kept on well under a strong drive to get up and lead close home.
“Fran [Berry] gave him a tremendous ride, all the credit goes to the jockey”, stated Byrnes.
“The small field really helped, his ideal trip is really a mile or nine furlongs.”
“I don’t think we’ll run him in Galway, he ran badly there last year. I think he’s better suited to a flat track.”
“He won’t be running over hurdles again this season.”
