Aughnacurraveel made all and out battled challengers close home to take the Gorey Qualified Riders Race for his trainer Thomas Cummins with Declan Lavery aboard.
The 8yo gelding kept on well when ridden inside the final furlong to hold off the challenge of Domination and Lady Imola
The winning son of Tajrassi was returned at 7/1 (opened at 9/1 on-course and touch 10's) with Domination going off the short priced 6/4 favourite under James 'Corky' Carroll for Charles Byrnes.
He finished half a length back in second while Lady Imola was a further half a length back in third at 12/1 for Ken Condon.
Winning trainer Thomas Cummins said afterwards: "He is a decent horse and he beat Back In Focus fair and square in Tipperary."
Cummins was particularly annoyed with a certain publication for not giving Aughnacurraveel enough credit for his win at Tipperary.
The winner was recording his sixth career success this evening and his fourth on the track.
He won two point-to-points earlier in his career and took the scalp of the Willie Mullins trained Back In Focus at Tipperary in July in a three mile hurdle.
