Maude Adams had the highest official rating of the five contenders for the Breaffy House Resort Rated Race. Her rider Gary Halpin looked a more than competent youngster as the 7Ib claimer guided his mount to a comfortable five and a half length success.
Bidding for a hat-trick, Lady O Malley a previous course and distance winner, went off the well-backed 11/8 'jolly' and she again endeavoured to make all.
However she had no answer to Maude Adams from over a furlong out and she eventually could only manage fourth place. Star Links who had proved very slow to load, came home well without threatening the winner to finish second.
"The bit of ease in the ground helped. She loved the ground – travelled well and quickened up well," commented Halpin, who steered Maude Adams for trainer Kevin Prendergast and his owner, wife, Lesley.
Halpin is now on the seven winner mark. (DM & EM)
