2/9 favourite Galvin was left with just two rivals to beat in the Money Back On The BoyleSports App Novice Chase and he duly obliged with workmanlike length and a quarter victory over the front-running Waitandsee.
Keith Donoghue sat second on the market leader before hitting the front after the second-last. From there the Gold Well 6-year-old found enough to see off the much lower-rated but game runner-up.
This was a seventh win in 13 starts for Galvin, who was a fine second in the novices’ handicap chase at the Cheltenham Festival before being a leading fancy for the Galway Plate only to be ruled out of that engagement on vets’ advice.
Winning trainer Gordon Elliott remarked over the phone: "A better race with a stronger gallop would suit better.
"He will have no trouble stepping up in trip when the time comes and might get a Kerry National entry."
