last month I had three horses in one week going to win who fell at the last and he was one of them. It swings in roundabouts and this is a local winner for the Monroe family (Downtown Syndicate). John Monroe (late trainer) passed away in 2019 and this is the family's first winner at Galway since. It was so hard to take after putting in an exhibition of jumping at Listowel the last day and today was an after-thought and I wasn't as convinced he was as good going right-handed, even though he did win at Musselburgh. Conor (Orr, winning jockey) gave him a clever ride and switching to the stands' side helped. He could now run in those staying chases through the winter and we might look at the Troytown if he got in.

That's great. He's improved again,. He won here the time before last and I thought he wanted a bit of nice ground but he handled the this ground fine in Limerick when he finished second. The form has stood up well from Limerick as the third horse Fit To Be Tied came out and won afterwards. We had him entered in a beginners chase at Fairyhouse last Monday but I didn't declare him as I saw this race coming up. I thought we'd have one more go at a hurdle race before we going jumping a fence. He's improved well and Luke was delighted with him. I know there were a few fallers but I think he still had a bit in hand going to the last. He's a lovely staying horse and you can't beat pedigree, he has a lovely pedigree. He's a King's Theatre and cost plenty as a three-year-old and the pedigree comes through. He'll jump a fence soon and he's a real three-mile chaser.

It seems to be suiting front-runners today. It's the best he ever travelled, he was just a happy horse today,. Luke gave him a great ride and got the fractions right in front. He just enjoyed it all the way, the ground is good and he stacked them all up behind him and had another go. He's a very consistent horse but hadn't travelled very well in his races and that's what has let him down, but today he travelled great and he'll be a lovely horse over a fence. It's great to have a winner at Navan at the start of the season. I'd say he wants a bit of nice ground, he mightn't go on heavy ground but we could get well into the start of October to mid-November before it changes too much. I'd definitely keep him going when he's in that sort of form. It's great for the Monroes. Rob Monroe is here, his father John died in the summer and he bought this horse. There are loads of memories attached to him. He's after getting off the phone to his mother and she's crying at home. A horse like that keeps the memories going.
