After race at Ballinrobe Mon, 22nd Jul, 2024 (1st)
I was a bit worried that he hadn't got there, I was happy that he was after running a good race. It was a real tussle, but I'm delighted that he got there in the end. Paul (Leech, owner) came in this morning from America and I think he's actually friends with the owner of the second horse of Jessie's (Harrington), so he'll have the bragging rights after that. He's a very good horse who's had plenty of injuries. He got a very bad injury after winning over hurdles at Cork on the Monday after Galway last year, and the plan is that he'll go back there for the same race. Ben thinks he'll go on and be a nice Flat horse. He's probably a little bit behind the bridle at the moment but he'll improve away and hopefully he'll get into some those nice handicaps at the end of the year. This trip, around here anyway, is as short as he wants. I think he came alive two furlongs out but sure then, you're turning the bend and you're stoking him up again. He's a better horse when you're arriving late.

In fairness Paul (Leech, owner) picked out this race a couple of months back when we started him back in training. The plan was to run at Leopardstown on the Flat and then come here but he took the run in Leopardstown and we gave him an extra run in Ballinrobe which left him really well for today. It’s a pity Sam got a fall earlier and hopefully he’s ok. Darragh won a big race at Punchestown on him and deserved a spin on him. It’s great to get him back. He’d a nasty enough injury but he seems to be coming back right now. It was a nice race today and hopefully he’ll go on from that to handicap hurdles or go back on the Flat for a maiden. We’ll have good fun with him and hopefully all his issues are well behind him. He probably won’t go over fences this season. He’s after having three quick runs but was very gross at home and I couldn’t get the weight off him. Paul is home for the week and we have Freedom To Dream out for him on Friday so hopefully he runs a big race for him.

After race at Punchestown Wed, 28th Apr, 2021 (1st)
He was in such a good rhythm. He pricked his ears at the last and jumped it well and quickened up nicely. Peter (Fahey) is very shrewd, he’s had a brilliant season, and I’m delighted to get a winner on the board for him. He was knocking around running okay in maiden hurdles and I rang Sandy Shaw (handicapper) to see what sort of mark he was thinking for him.
