all the credit goes to James and Stephen (McAuley, owners) as they were adamant once the declarations were out for Laytown that they were taking him. He went and won well and there were a lot of claims (nine) in for him so we were lucky they were the ones that came out of the hat. He was a great purchase and he looked to love the beach so I'd say this place is ideal for him. He'll compete away here for the winter and hopefully he can win again. The horses are running super and I have to say a big thanks to my staff. I have a brilliant staff and they are a joy to work with. When they are running well it makes it easier for everybody.
Denis Gerard Hogan
After race at Laytown Wed, 11th Sep, 2019 (1st)
said Malune. I rode both of them back home in England and they did quite well up the gallop which is a similar surface, a fast track. He said to me that they both should have a very good chance. I came up, walked the track this morning and I've enjoyed it. He ran up and down in the straight, when he was in the ridge he came off the bridle with me. He's the kind of horse that you have to let him stride on, you can't take him back or send him forward, you let him do his thing. He was on top from two out and he hosed up really.
