Run Forrest Run backs up last years win in sprint handicap
Locally based trainer Micky Fenton sent out Run Forrest Run to follow up his victory of 12 months ago in the Mallow Handicap at Cork. Tue 01st OctPinar Del Rio gets Conlon off the mark
“I’m delighted, over the moon. I’ve had my licence a while and been a bit unlucky with seconds and third — that’s my first winner," explained Joe Conlon after favourite Pinar Del Rio delivered convincingly in the concluding Holden Plant Rentals Handicap at the Curragh. After race at Cork Tue, 1st Oct, 2024 (1st)
It looks like the blinkers worked and Darragh is a good, up-and-coming jockey so we were lucky to get him with his 7lb claim. A few of the boys, Seamie Heffernan and Leigh Roche, who rode him on his last few runs said he wasn't trying very hard and to try the blinkers, so they were spot on. He won this race on bottomless ground last year and we're lucky to have him.

After race at Curragh Mon, 1st May, 2023 (1st)
Jamie got to know him after a few rides which was a big help. It's taken a while to work out how he has to be ridden,. It's brilliant, the Curragh has always been lucky for me. I've always had a few winners here when I was a jockey. It's good to come back and train one here, I can't believe it really. My wife Stephanie led it up as well, we're only a small stable. We have nine in at the moment and it's our first full year. I'm based near Mallow. We bought this horse last July in Newmarket and it has worked out well.
