Star Comes Late in Royal County
Tony Martin trained his first winner of 2009 when Royal County Star sprung a 14/1 surprise in the Grade 3 Irish Form Book An Uaimh Chase. Ross Accord was Martin's last winner, at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival. Sat 28th Mar
Ruby was very good on him but you couldn't read too much into the race as they went no gallop - he jumped well, apart from the first two fences.

This horse is a bit of a problem horse, things just haven't worked out on occasions but everything worked out grand today and he's not a bad horse when everything works out. He's a very versatile horse and that race took nothing out of him, he will be kept on the go as he goes on good ground and he hasn't had a particularly hard season.

I never thought he'd beat Glenfinn Captain. He is a horse with a lot of old problems but everything went right for him today. He loves that quicker ground and it is hard to say where we'll go from here.
