it's been a lonely old week up until now! . I said Willie (Mullins) has been the easiest man to find in Punchestown, as he's been in the winners' enclosure all week and to be fair he was the first one to congratulate me. I'm delighted, absolutely thrilled. I said in Fairyhouse if he ever jumps them all he'll be a real good horse and he jumped brilliantly today. He's just never stopped improving and since he came back from Cheltenham he's like a film star in the yard. The girls take him off to the beach for a dip and I think he's liking every minute of it. I had two going to Cheltenham, him and Beacon Edge, and I said to Sean you could have two winners as you've two great chances. A real fast gallop really suits him, like they went in the Fred Winter and as they did there. They were coming back to him and his jumping was fantastic. He's going to have a little break although I suppose he's so well you'd think to yourself you should keep going. He'll certainly have a run on the Flat, he's never going to be a chaser. Now that he's won that he's going to have to stay with the big fellas now, that's his last chance to run in a four-year-old race, so he'll have to wait until the back end to have a go again.

He actually doesn't jump fantastically but he gets from one side to the other and he does it his own way. He stuck his head down and galloped all the way to the line. He has actually jumped the last hurdles really well. He's improving all the time. We have him a little break at Christmas and I was worried that I had left him off too long. Obviously I just did it perfect. We let him in and out for a while and let him enjoy himself. I'd say he was very weak last year as a three-year-old and he is starting to get a bit stronger. If he ever learns how to jump the whole lot of them he'll be grand, he only jumped half of them. If he never does anymore he's done a lot but hopefully he will do more. I can't see any reason why he won't run in Punchestown now. The plan was to run on the Flat during the summer. Colin (Keane) said to me last year when you get him over two miles he'll win a Cesarewitch for you. Off 68 he should be able to win a Flat race somewhere you'd imagine. I'm delighted for the fellas who own him. They've bought a few horses but that's the first one they've had luck with. Eamonn (Scanlon) hasn't been too well so that's a boost for him.

When we got levelled out into the straight I knew he was going to stay well and he’s jumped well on the whole. I’m delighted for Noel and all the team at home. If it wasn’t for Noel, I wouldn’t be here — you need the horses and the staff and everything. To be fair to Noel said after a bit of work last week that this horse had a right chance and when he says something like that you stand up and take note. To be fair, he was right. I genuinely said when I passed the line, ‘I can’t believe it’. I was talking to a few of the lads who have ridden here and they said it’s a feeling you can’t explain. Even though there’s no crowds here, it was brilliant — I can only imagine what it would have been like if there was (a crowd). I thought he had a chance. He worked the other day and I was very happy with what I saw. I said to Sean you’ve got two good rides at Cheltenham for me this week and I think you will be thereabouts on this one. He is a stayer on the Flat and that’s what you need around Cheltenham. That is what he ended up doing, just outstaying them. I think the better ground helped as well. He won at Fairyhouse then we put in him a Grade Two at Leopardstown over Christmas which was a very good race. He had been running on the Flat and he was a winner on the Flat so he was used to the hustle and bustle. Colin Keane has been riding him on the Flat and he said he will win you a Cesarewitch one day a

You'd have to say he deserved that. I thought he was going to get done again because he got locked in. He handled the ground reasonably well, I was a bit worried he mightn't, but Sean said he did. He stays well. I'm sure when he goes back next season on to the Flat there will be races to be won with him over two miles. We'll tip along and see where we go next. His jumping needs to improve a little bit. Colin Keane loves him even though he's lowly enough rated. He fights for you and jockeys like a horse that keeps trying for you. I'm delighted to win with him and hopefully he can win again.

He's been knocking on the door but we needed the jockey. Hopefully he'll have a chance again in a handicap somewhere if he (the handicapper) doesn’t bump him up too much. He seems to stay well and handles that ground but he goes on good ground too. He'll be going back jumping as well.
