That was grand. I don't like making it. He came back from the Derby Trial and was covered in ringworm, typical of a weak horse. When you get it in May you just have to be patient, back off and let him come to himself. He has a temperament to die for. He is a lovely quality horse. We will stick to the mile and two for the minute. He doesn't want it any faster than that. We will bring him home and see how he comes out of it, he'll improve for the run and we'll try and plot it steady, steady. We'd like to be thinking big for next year as opposed to this year. He is a horse I like.

It was a grand performance and he has a great temperament for the job. I would have liked to start him off over a mile but we were adamant that he wanted the mile-and-a-quarter and he's after doing that well. We've his full-sister at home, a two-year-old, and we had Ainippe (half-sister). If he didn't run accordingly today we would have been worried as he's up there with the nice ones in the yard. He was always a nice horse and Emmet (McNamara) gave him a lovely educational spin in Naas. He's grown over the winter and I think he's still on the leg. We'd hope there is more improvement in him. He's just a nice horse. I thought he did it well and Colin gave him a lovely ride. He was crying to come out here today. The reason he didn't go to Naas was because it was heavy. He wants better ground but he doesn't want extremes. Homer wants us to think big and aim big but the horse will tell us.
