That was great. The danger was getting home in the ground and then the last didn't help. He actually stuck at it well in the ground. Finbar (Cahill) was in Mexico and Tom (Hendron) was in the Canaries and I said to them that I thought he'd win and then I started to worry about the ground. I nearly would have preferred if it stayed raining and it was kind of loose. We'll see what happens, it's taken him a while to get the hang of it. First we had to get him to settle, which took a long time. He's jumping very well at home and he is very good. I'd say he will be better when he gets a little bit better ground, he does like it soft but a little bit better than that. He's still novicey for anything big, so I would have thought we'll try and get another run into him somewhere and then tip along. He will go back on the Flat again this year. I said the other day that if he was in a Group race (on the Flat) I'd fancy him because he's that well in himself.

Colin said he was going to sit a bit closer and have one go at him (Broome). He felt he went too soon for him the last day and he felt he did again today. He has an electrifying turn of speed but lasted it out. It was a brilliant ride. He’s been a pleasure to train and doesn’t take a lot of work. There have been plenty of people interesting in buying him but thankfully the owners have kept faith in me as I felt he could win a Group One. I’ve had a number of horses placed in Guineas, and a fourth in the Epsom Derby, but that is my first Group One. I can die happy now!. They are so easy to train compared to jumpers. I’m always joking with Flat trainers that they are getting away with murder. You don’t have to train Flat horses to stay or to jump and there is not nearly as many injuries. I’ve always said that Sheikh Mohammed should have sent Willie (Mullins) 200 horses years ago and got him out of the way!. I was afraid to even dream about it (winning a Group 1). I’m thrilled and it means a lot.

I thought he was good all year but things just haven't gone right for him with one thing and another. I don't know where he will go next, and there is the possibility we could travel with him. He'll stick to Stakes races now. We have schooled him over barrels but that will probably go out the window now. Colin was riding the O'Brien horses today but he told me the other day he was riding this horse which was nice to hear. We get on well together and it gave me a bit of satisfaction that he stuck with me. He loves soft ground. He wouldn't want fast ground but I think he'll go on good ground.

Gavin said it was very easy and he did everything well for him. They went a good gallop, and he did exactly what he said he was going to do. He loved the ground and quickened up well on it,. Colin (Keane) loved him and said he was a lovely horse when he rode him, and Chesney (Chris Hayes) said he was still green the last day and would improve a lot. I’d say he did improve a good bit. I claimed off him as Dermot (Weld) was claiming 5lb off his (Mere Catherine) and we were already giving her 9lb. I was very impressed with Gavin how he summed up the race beforehand and knew what he wanted to do. He’s obviously a smart kid. I’d say we will leave him for the Final (of the Foran Series) now.

After race at Roscommon Mon, 19th Aug, 2019 (1st)
He ran well the first day over five, and he hadn't been showing us much at all at home before we ran him,. In Galway he got into a little bit of trouble but Colin (Keane) has loved him all the time. He just couldn't ride today because he had to ride for Ger (Lyons). He was pretty confident that he was a pretty decent horse. I'd imagine he'll go for the final of this series and we'll probably give him another run before that. He's thriving all the time. He's going the right way and hopefully he'll keep going that way. I'd say the ground was an advantage to him. I felt that he mightn't be a real fast ground horse and it wasn't a disadvantage that easy ground. I bought him off Joanna Morgan and she told me 'you have to buy him'. She was right anyway. He hasn't got a great pedigree but he's a very good looking horse, big and strong. Finbar (Cahill) is probably one of the luckiest owners I've ever had and he's been with me from the beginning. He owned one of the real good horses we had at the beginning, Pinch Hitter, who won two Galway Hurdles. He owns half of Dadoozdart and anything he touches seem to be lucky and Tom Hendron who is the other owner had horses with me years ago and he's been a lucky owner too.
