Native Fighter (IRE), trained by James Moffatt, ran without its left fore shoe as Moffatt had not indicated at declaration stage that the gelding should be withdrawn in the event of losing a shoe on the way to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference after jumping the fourth last hurdle involving Teescomponents Lad (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Tom Midgley and the winner Catchmeifyoucan (IRE), ridden by Sean Quinlan.
Midgley was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift right-handed when insufficiently clear of Catchmeifyoucan (IRE) causing Quinlan to take a slight check.
The winner Catchmeifyoucan (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Cartmel on 27 August 2022 where the mare finished fifth of six runners beaten 36 lengths.
Jennie Candlish’s representative’s explanation that Catchmeifyoucan (IRE) had benefited from the application of a first-time tongue strap was noted, and the mare was routine tested.
Following the race, Jamie Hamilton reported that Giovanni Change (FR), unplaced, did not jump fluently.
