Permission was given for Lady Carduros (IRE) to go early to post.
Leaving the stalls the winner THE EAGLE’S NEST (IRE) jumped left-handed briefly hampering Tiger Balm (GB), placed eighth, and Palazzo (GB), placed fourth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of THE EAGLE’S NEST (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider interference half a furlong after the start involving the winner THE EAGLE’S NEST ridden by Daniel Muscutt, Fivehundredmiles (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Ben Curtis, Palazzo (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Graham Lee, Tiger Balm (GB), placed eighth, ridden by Kieran O’Neill and Early Morning Mist (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Gabriele Malune.
Jason Hart the rider of Crazy Spin (GB), placed third, was also interviewed but was found not to have been involved the interference.
The interference was found to be accidental as the riders of Tiger Balm (GB) and Palazzo (GB) were regathering their mounts to obtain prominent positions having suffered interference prior to this incident and were subsequently caught on heels of the outside runners migrating across towards the rail at the same time.
Rounding the bend into the home straight Alpha Tauri (USA), placed sixth, edged right-handed at the same time as Margaret J (GB), unplaced, lugged left-handed, causing Captain Revelation (GB), placed fifth, to be tightened for room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, the representative of Michael Appleby reported that GRACIE’S GIRL, unplaced, didn’t face the kickback.
The representative of Bryan Smart reported that Palazzo (GB), placed fourth, didn’t face the kickback.
Alistair Rawlinson reported that Lady Carduros (IRE), placed eighth, hung left-handed in the final 2 furlongs.
Gabriele Malune reported that Early Morning Mist (IRE), unplaced, stopped quickly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
