Muddled Up (GB) swerved sharply left-handed when jumping the first hurdle, colliding heavily with Annies Prayer (IRE), placed second, which was badly hampered and resulted in Muddled Up (GB) falling.
Carrig Coch (IRE), unplaced; Ocean Reach (GB), placed third; Army Of One (GER), placed fourth; and My Poem (GB), which later fell, which were following were all badly inconvenienced, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Ciaran Gethings reported that Ocean Reach (GB), placed third, was hampered by the fall of Muddled Up (GB) at the first hurdle.
Charlie Hammond reported that Army Of One (GER), which started co-favourite and finished fourth, was badly hampered by the fall of Muddled Up (GB) at the first hurdle and ran novicey throughout.
