Permission was given for Agent Saonois (FR) to wear a red hood to post.
The winner, Vin Rouge (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Kempton on 3 August 2022, where the gelding finished last of nine runners, beaten by 17 ½ lengths.
Seamus Mullins explained that Vin Rouge (IRE) had appreciated a return to Good summer jumping ground, had learnt to relax more in his races on the flat over the winter and therefore settled better on this occasion.
His explanation was noted; Vin Rouge (IRE) was routine tested.
Pittsburg (IRE), placed second, appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Worcester on 27 July 2022, where the gelding finished sixth of nine, beaten by 12 lengths.
Ryan Potter's explanation that Pittsburg (IRE) had benefitted from running in what, in his opinion, was a weaker race, was noted; the gelding was routine tested.
