I’m originally from this neck of the woods so I like to come down here and have a winner. Andrew was very good on him, and he had to be very strong. He made a mistake down the back and I thought that’s it he’s gone. It was his first run in a handicap (over fences). I was hopeful and he’s run plenty of races over hurdles. The Stewards interviewed R.A. Doyle, rider of Brontide, trained by Conor O'Dwyer, concerning his riding from the last fence where he appeared to stop riding before the finish and lost fifth place. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his mount had never travelled and he felt that as he had no more to offer after jumping the final fence he did not apply any pressure. He admitted that he did not realise that there was any challenger. Having viewed the recording and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that R.A

Doyle was in breach of Rule 212 A by stopping riding and losing fifth place. Having taken his good previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended R.A. Doyle for 2 racedays and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee
