The Veterinary Officer reported that MAJESTIC DAWN (IRE), trained by Paul Cole, had been vaccinated for equine influenza within 7 days of the race and therefore could not run. After interviewing the representative of the trainer, Cole was fined A#290.
An enquiry was held to establish the reason why WILL OF IRON, trained by John Gosden, arrived at the racecourse with a passport containing a record of vaccinations which did not comply with the Rules of Racing. The representative of John Gosden and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed. Having heard their evidence, the Stewards ordered WILL OF IRON to be withdrawn as the Veterinary Officer could not be satisfied that the vaccinations recorded provided sufficient cover against equine influenza, and fined Gosden A#280 as this was his second offence within the previous 12 months.
