He's a nice horse - a big galloping horse. That's our first horse for Seamus and I'm delighted for Katie. She has been riding out for us for a while and rides out a couple of days a week. The Stewards interviewed J.G. Cosgrave, trainer, concerning the failure to nominate a rider before the designated time for Bach To Ballela. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that he didn't think his horse would get into the race initially and so hadn't spoken to any riders about riding him. He added that he was otherwise engaged yesterday morning and by the time he realised he was getting a run, the time for nomination of a rider had almost elapsed, and this time had passed before he could secure a rider, Miss C.V. Annan. He wished to nominate her now and apologised for his oversight. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the nomination of Miss C.V. Annan and cautioned J.G. Cosgrave concerning his future responsibilities in this regard. Ms N. Carberry, rider of Grinditout, trained by Mrs Gillian Callaghan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount stopped quickly.

Riders - Ladies who are Qualified under I.N.H.S. Rules. Ladies who are Professional under I.N.H.S. Rules (other than Apprentices) who have not lost the right to claim the 7lb allowance under Rule 52 (iii) (up to and including 22nd August) may also ride in this race.
